Joy Coaching
WHAT IS JOY POTENTIAL ?
Joy Potential is the place between our current baseline for happiness and the joy that is possible for all of us.
Research shows that we all have a happiness set point a.k.a. a baseline. Something positive occurs and we get excited and inspired, and our happiness level rises. However, after the stimulus has subsided, we return to the set point. Likewise, when a challenge comes, we feel a dip in our happiness, but over time we default back to our baseline.
The good news is that we don’t have to be stuck with our current happiness set point. In fact, according to Dr Sonja Lyubomirsky, we can only predict 10% of a person‘s happiness based on outside circumstances. Our internal environment determines 90% - this includes 40 to 50% for our genetic predisposition towards happiness, and at least 40% that we have absolute control over. Our power lies in that last 40% how we respond to experiences and intentionally create our lives. Although 40% isn’t everything, it can radically change our lives.
In other words, the research is undeniable: we can increase our happiness set point and tap into what I call our Joy Potential.
And that is exactly what we get to do together if you decide to take this journey with me as your Joy Potential coach.
